沒問題 no problam 英文_沒問題no problem
It’s been awhile since I’ve taught some slang, so I think it’s about time to step up my game.
Let’s start with an easy and common one. “Sweet.” Of course, we all know this means the 甜 flavor, or nice (i.e. She’s so sweet). Other variations could be “Sweety,” which would mean 小甜甜.
But many of us westerners like to use “sweet” by itself to describe a good situation. It’s pretty much just used like 太好了,太酷了,太棒了. Pretty easy, right?
Example 1:
Steve: Good news! Woodie said we are all going to get raises next month!
Denzel: Sweet!!
Example 2:
Connie: I just got us two back-stage tickets to see Eminem’s next concert.
Ethel: That’s soooooo sweet, how did you do that!?
Another common slang word to show acknowledgement or confirmation is “For sure.” Probably one of the best ways to think of this word in Chinese would be “當然.”
If someone says “Thanks,” you already know you can say “You’re welcome” or “No problem,” but you can also say “For sure” – in this sentence, it’s like saying “of course”. Here, it’s an acknowledgement.
如果有人對你說“Thanks”,除了可以回答他“You’re welcome” 或者“No problem” 之外,你還可以說“for sure”,在這句話中,它其實就是“of course” 的意思。
It can also be a confirmation, a “yes” answer. Instead of just answering the question with a “yes/yeah”, responding “For sure” shows emphases, it’s a big fat “of course!!”
Example 1:
Woodie: Thanks for helping me move Connie, you’re the only one who can lift all this furniture.
Connie: For sure Woodie, don’t even mention it.
Example 2:
Denzel: Yo Malloy, you’re coming with me to the party tonight, right?
Malloy: For sure! You couldn’t pay me to miss it!
I’m trying to keep this short and sweet, thus the name “1 Minute English” so I’ll stop here. Keep an eye out for a future article of mine that will tell you when, where, and how to use slang the right way.
